Malaysia stops visa of arrivals (VOA) for in Indians

Malaysia has withdrawn visa-on-arrival facility to Indians and Bangladeshis who will now need a two-week social visit pass and a return ticket if they wish to visit the country.

Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar said the proposed new ruled were among measures taken to overcome the problem of illegal immigrants.

"The social visit pass replaces the visas-on-arrival (VOA) which was discontinued in April," Syed Hamid told Parliament on Thursday.

The VOA facility has also been withdrawn for tourists from Bangladesh, he was quoted as saying by New Straits Times.

Under the VOA, 208,451 tourists were allowed in the country from January till March this year.

The social visit pass must be obtained at the tourists' home country.

Malaysia relies heavily on foreign workers who number about 2.1 million, half of them Indonesians. About 140,000 are Indians, 330,000 are from Bangladesh and 260,000 Nepalese, the paper said.

However, authorities say that many foreigners who entered the country under short term visa on arrival failed to go back to their home country after the expiry of their permit and instead worked in Malaysia illegally.

Syed Hamid said although foreign workers had contributed tremendously to the economy, they were also the cause of social ills, illegal squatters and diseases such as tuberculosis, the paper reported.

So..what are you waiting for ladies & gentlemen..you're welcome to Malaysia!!

NEW Nokia 5800 Tube

Looks like iPhone to me..It seems that Nokia 5800 Tube is really close to an official announcement, as more quality images and detailed information has leaked online. An important discovery is the Nokia 5800 will not spawn a new series of its own called XpressMedia, but will use the already existing XpressMusic.

Nokia 5800 XpressMusic has a 3.2-inch 16M touchscreen TFT display with 640x360 pixels resolution (16:9 display ratio) and some vibrating touch feedback. The device will run on the latest S60 5th edition with accelerometer for auto screen rotation.

As a mid-range phone, the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will feature only a 3 megapixel autofocus camera, but it will have a Carl Zeiss lens, dual LED flash and geo-tagging support, thanks to the built-in GPS with A-GPS function.

Despite its mid-range status, the Nokia 5800 is an expert in communications, sporting quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE support plus UMTS/HSDPA on top of it. The other connectivity options include Wi-Fi b/g, stereo Bluetooth (A2DP) and USB 2.0. Finally, this department is completed by a 3.5mm AV jack and TV output.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic will also have 140 MB of built-in memory and a microSD card slot (up to 8GB supported). Another obvious fact from the images is the new Nokia BL-5J battery with a capacity of 1320 mAh that will power the Nokia 5800.Nokia 5800 XpressMusic measures 115 x 52 x 14.5mm and weighs 104 g. It's rumored to be officially announced within the next month. source: www.gsmarena.com

Port Dickson Beaches

This quiet coastal town located on the west coast of Negeri Sembilan. Port Dickson or more popularly known as PD among locals derived its name from Sir John Frederick Dickson, the British resident responsible in developing the district into a significant trading port in 18th century. PD’s beaches are not confined to a single spot, but the whole length of the road that runs along the coastline to PD are potential beach-side relaxation areas.

Malaysia: Brief Introduction

Located just north of the equator, Malaysia borders Thailand, Indonesian Kalimantan and Brunei, and has sea boundaries with Indonesian Sumatra (Strait of Malacca), Singapore (Strait of Johor) and, in the South China Sea, the Philippines and the disputed Spratly Islands.

Both West (or Peninsular) Malaysia (area 131,794 sq km) and East Malaysia (198,000 sq km) consist of rugged forested mountainous interiors descending to coastal plains. The total area is about half that of New South Wales. Malaysia’s (also South-East Asia’s) highest peak is Mount Kinabalu at 4,100 metres in East Malaysia. Malaysia’s climate is hot (up to 34°C) and humid (2 to 4 metres of rain annually).

Our national language is Bahasa Melayu (Melayu Language) but since we are multi racial country, English language is widely used. So if you're from Europe/Middle East/America...I believe you will not be having any language problems here.

I'm not going to touch on the political issues since the purpose of this blog is to share the best vacation experience you'll be having in Malaysia.

How can you arrive here?? We have our own airline system which is Malaysia Airlines System or simply MAS. Please give a visit to their webpage http://www.malaysiaairlines.com/splash.aspx or check with your country's airline company on itinerary to Malaysia.

From the Kuala Lumpur Internantional Airport (KLIA), there will be many public transportation to use, either you want to rent a vehicle, bus, trains, taxis, limos or other transportation you can think of.

OK, enough for the introduction. Our first destinantion...Port Dickson beaches.
